2-12-17 We have a sump pump under cabin #9. This morning we realized that it was not pumping anymore. After much investigation we found that the line had frozen. Now the question is – how far in the pipe and how thick is the ice?We disconnected it at the first connection and it was pretty […]
Lake Florida sunset
2-9-17 Sunset The best part of every day is a good sunset! Tonight the sun looks like a pale yellow ghost hanging above the trees. We’re hoping winter is over soon. Our snow fence is getting tired and falling down. As I was walking back from taking the pictures of the sunset in the west, […]

Cabin plumbing, house plumbing – it’s all about water!
2-7-17 Cabin Plumbing Jerry our plumber came today to work on the plumbing at cabin #5 and to replace our water heater. Our water heater has been installed since 1987 and finally got sick. It didn’t totally die, but when it started leaking we decided it was time to invest in a new one.Bob and […]
What a difference a day makes!
11-26-2017 The sunset is totally different tonight across Lake Florida. It’s very foggy and we can barely see the trees on the south shore. Lake Florida has not frozen yet so the lake gauge is still in the water. This is getting really late for freeze up!
Friday night sunset at Dickerson’s Resort
11-25-2017 The sunset was beautiful again tonight. Lake Florida has not frozen yet, so it seems like another beautiful, fall night. We’re looking forward to another great day tomorrow!
An early snow at Lake Florida
11/18-19/2016 Things are about to change at Lake Florida. The weathermen are forecasting as much as 10 inches of snow so Keith & Travis went back to their other building project at Lake Andrew (a “cabin” 10 times larger than ours!) The snow started slowly, but it was wet & heavy. Look at Bob getting […]
A roof over our head
11-15-2016 Today Keith and Travis are building the ceiling of the main floor bedrooms or the floor of the upstairs bedroom depending on where you are standing. 🙂 Bob is keeping us warm and keeping things neat by burning the smaller pieces of wood. It’s another beautiful day, we really don’t need a fire, but […]
Airplanes, knives and lures – oh my!
11-13-16 This morning we went to our church, Calvary Lutheran in Willmar. When we got home we put on our dirty clothes one more time, took the radio to cabin #5 and listened to the Minnesota Vikings loose (starting to sound like a broken record!) while we removed the lakeside deck of cabin #5. Sasha […]
