2-16-2017 Another beautiful Lake Florida sunset! As the song says, it was “cold as ice” outside, but the beautiful sunset warmed us up as we watched it turn from blue and yellow to blue, orange and yellow and then pink, orange and yellow. A sunset this beautiful gives us hope for a great day […]
Problems under cabin #9
2-12-17 We have a sump pump under cabin #9. This morning we realized that it was not pumping anymore. After much investigation we found that the line had frozen. Now the question is – how far in the pipe and how thick is the ice?We disconnected it at the first connection and it was pretty […]
Lake Florida sunset
2-9-17 Sunset The best part of every day is a good sunset! Tonight the sun looks like a pale yellow ghost hanging above the trees. We’re hoping winter is over soon. Our snow fence is getting tired and falling down. As I was walking back from taking the pictures of the sunset in the west, […]
An early snow at Lake Florida
11/18-19/2016 Things are about to change at Lake Florida. The weathermen are forecasting as much as 10 inches of snow so Keith & Travis went back to their other building project at Lake Andrew (a “cabin” 10 times larger than ours!) The snow started slowly, but it was wet & heavy. Look at Bob getting […]
A roof over our head
11-15-2016 Today Keith and Travis are building the ceiling of the main floor bedrooms or the floor of the upstairs bedroom depending on where you are standing. 🙂 Bob is keeping us warm and keeping things neat by burning the smaller pieces of wood. It’s another beautiful day, we really don’t need a fire, but […]
An incredibly beautiful sunset
The sunset today was worth it’s own post. We hope you enjoy it!
Keith & Travis-take down that wall!
11-14-16 Keith & Travis are working on removing the top layer of the cabin floor. Say good-bye to the pink and tan floor from the 60’s! Do you think they need 1 more crow bar? 🙂 Bob just happened to have 2 more long ones they needed. I guess it’s a challenge for them to […]

11-10-2016 Bob and I have been having fun taking cabin #5 apart, but there is other fall work to be finished too. The bottom kitchen cupboards are one of the things remaining. Last night Keith Collins from Collins Construction called and said they would be here Thursday at 7:00 a.m.We are excited and thankful! Today […]
The destruction of cabin #5
For quite awhile we have been planning a re-build of cabin #5. Our carpenter Keith called in mid October and said he would be here in 2 weeks so it looks like this will be the year! We are excited. There is much to do before he gets here. We started taking everything out of […]
February is going out like a lamb
We’ve had some really nice days at the lake. Highs in the 30’s and 40’s have caused water puddling on the ice which gives us hope that spring will come soon. The weather people are saying 50 degrees tomorrow. Time to start planning your vacation!
