Monday night we went to Pizza Ranch in Willmar for dinner. Pizza Ranch has a great fund raising program where they let different groups work at the restaurant and they donate part of their profits from the night and the group gets their tips. Our church youth group at Calvary Lutheran Church was working on Monday night so we went to support them. It was too early for the sunset at Lake Florida (and the wind was blowing 40 mph out of the NW!) so we took the camera along and made stops along the way.
Our first picture is from the entrance to Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center which is right next door to the resort.
Our next picture was taken at Ringo Lake on Highway 71 just 2 miles from Lake Florida.
Our 3rd sunset picture was again taken right off of Highway 71 at Point Lake.
Continuing on our journey to Willmar, the next sunset is at Willmar Lake.
Going down Lakeland Avenue our next view of the sunset was at the railroad tracks. Bob crossed over the tracks to park and I ran back to get the BNSF Train in the picture. Willmar, named by George Becker for Leon Willmar, Flemish land agent for the St. Paul & Pacific Railroad, became a hub for the Great Northern Railway. A Great Northern steam locomotive and depot as well as a working train set can be seen at the Kandiyohi County Historical Museum on north highway 71.
We are now out of places to get pictures and that’s o.k. because we are at Pizza Ranch and we’re hungry! 🙂
The fundraiser was well attended even though it was a cold blustery night. Here are just a few of our friends who were there.
Thanks to Pizza Ranch for this great opportunity to raise funds and have fun and a good meal!
