Thursday and Friday were nice days with above normal temperatures. On Saturday, the weathermen said that the wind was going to come up and the temperatures would drop. We would have low temperatures that we haven’t experienced for years. We needed some things at the store, so we left the resort and headed into Willmar at about 11:30. The temperature was 37 degrees. Time has a way of passing much too quickly and before we knew it, it was time to go to New London for a friends 88th birthday party. On the way we stopped at Jahnkes Foods in Spicer to pick up some ice cream. When we arrived the party was in full swing – everything happens early at a retirement complex! It was fun to spend some time with them and see someone like Sue who at 88 has so much spunk! Sue is the lady sitting in the middle.
As we left New London, we realized we were not going to make it back to Lake Florida and the resort in time for the sunset. As we were driving on highway 23 we looked west and saw the sun setting over Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church.
We realized we couldn’t see the church that well, so drove closer to get a better shot. Here are the pictures we took.
As we headed for the resort, we got one last picture over Nest Lake as we were going across the bridge
When we arrived at the resort, the wind was in full force and the temperature had dropped to 7 degrees. We had a drift across the driveway in front of our garage, so parked the pick-up on the north side of the drift by cabin #1. The wind was blowing at 40 mph+ and we were glad we didn’t have to walk any further! The weathermen got it exactly right!
